Softball

Tryouts are held within the first two weeks of school.  Practices are held at Scarbrough Fields in the Bacon Park area.  Girls who make the team will need to purchase socks through the coach.  Cleats, glove, water bottle, proper attire, sun screen, and hair pulled back are all required for practices and games.  Bats are preferred but not required.  We recommend all parents and student athletes read through eligibility requirements, guidelines and procedures prior to tryouts to ensure the terms and conditions will be accepted if chosen.

The 2013 season started strong with the Lady Ravens earning the first win in school history against Isle of Hope.  The team paved the way for an incredible year of Ravens Athletics!

Coaches: Winter Frost-Roundtree, Amber Kieon

Volleyball

Tryouts for Volleyball immediately follow the conclusion to the softball season.  Practices are held daily at the Ravens Nest along with most matches.  All ladies who are chosen for the team will need to purchase socks through the coach along with a pair of knee pads.  Water bottles, tennis shoes, proper attire and hair pulled back are all required for practices and games.  We recommend all parents and student athletes read through eligibility requirements, guidelines and procedures prior to tryouts to ensure the terms and conditions will be accepted if chosen.

The 2013 season made school history with the girls being the first team to make it to a playoff game vs. GSS.

Swimming

Swimming is offered as a district wide sport and occurs during the volleyball and basketball seasons.  Practices reside at the Aquatic Center off Sallie Mood and compeition occurs between schools.  All swimmers are required to purchase suits and caps.

The 2013-2014 Lady Ravens finished 6th overall.  This is the only sport offered that is not broken down into divisions. The STEM Academy's final placements were impressive as they competed against ALL Middle Schools in Chatham County.

Golf

Golf season occurs during the spring and lasts from March through May. This was the opening year for the district program and was used to introduce the fundamentals, rules, and etiquette of the game.  Competitive play is a future goal for the athletes that participate, much like swimming. Golf clubs, golf shoes, and proper attire are needed for participation. Bacon Park Golf Course is the facility used during season play.
